Hi, my name is Geraldine, l am 17 years old, with a great passion to save our planet from plastic waste pollution so l founded Waste Wise Project in 2023.
- l live near the Kiteezi landfill in Uganda, so for me plastic pollution is first hand dangerous experience. In August 2024, the Kiteezi landfill collapsed and killed over 30 people, destroyed properties and people's lives forever. This increased the urgency for Waste Wise to work harder to save the environment of plastic waste.
- l have engaged my fellow youth because l wanted Waste Wise to be youth led to enable us take charge of our future. We now recycle plastic bottles in 5 secondary schools and in the Bukoto brown flats community in Kampala. As a team in our different schools and community we are sharing a message of Reduce, Recycle, Reuse and give single plastic a second chance
- In Dec 2024, Waste Wise in Partnership with Mackay Memorial College built our first Ecoplastic Sports Pavilion
- This Dec 2025 the youth are pushing it further to build an Ecoplastic Water Tank in St Barnabas Primary School in Busujju.
- This fundraiser is to help us Reuse the recycled plastics to build this water tank in this village primary school to support them water harvest but at the same time sensitize them to reuse plastic bottles by giving them a second use and continue the message of saving our planet of plastic pollution.
